As a part of my research portfolio, I work with fellow graduate students and advisor Dr. Aaron Strong in the University of Maine School of Marine Science to study institutional interactions between international ocean and climate governance.

This research uses site observations from the United Nations Ocean Conference which we attended in June 2017 at UN Headquarters in New York as well as the Voluntary Commitments put forward by all entities wishing to engage with Sustainable Development Goal 14 on the ocean.

We also followed conversations on the ocean at COP23 in Bonn, Germany because Fiji, the presidency of the COP, declared it to me the island and ocean COP. The major output on the ocean is the Ocean Pathway Partnership which we also consider in our understanding of these interactions between ocean and climate governance.
